Traditional Thai massage is a deep, full-body treatment, which includes both stretching of the joints and muscles and applied pressure to the sen lines. Treatments can be done either on a treatment table or a Thai futon mat on the ground. Similar to Chinese Medicine, one of the fundamental principles of traditional Thai medicine is that energy flows through the body along ten major channels, or "sen lines." Obstructions are believed to exist due to an imbalance within the individual, or an imbalance between an individual and his environment. Ancient Thais treated ailments by using massage to restore the flow of energy throughout the body. Patients should wear comfortable loose fitting clothing that can they can move easily in for their treatment.
